A Song In The Storm

Hello friends!

I hope you and your family are well as we wait.

I’m popping here in the blog to share a “song” with you.

I have the joy of mentoring my pastor’s 15 year old daughter. We were studying Jonah. I challenged her (and I) to write a “song” as Jonah did in chapter 2.

Hers was beautiful, of course!

The Lord compelled me to share mine on
our church Facebook Page where I am posting daily prayers.

I’d had a rough day the week prior to writing it — many hard things had come in one day. I felt the familiar choke-hold of anxiety squeezing out my joy and peace.

My Song From The Difficult Day:

In my distress I cried to the Lord, save me from carrying the weight of others and from fearing the unknown. Help me cast all of my burdens on You who alone can carry them.

Remind me again that You are in control. Enable me to guard my heart from fear as I listen to and care for people. My faith in You will shield my heart.

I am a woman of faith. I will look to You for my help and strength. All my hope is in You.

Lead us all through this, O Lord. Make us conformed to You. Help us discern Your will and walk confidently in You.

Level the mountains of pride in our land and raise up the valleys of unbelief. Smooth out the rough places of dissension, bring repentance. Make straight a highway for You to bring salvation and reveal Your glory.

Show Yourself strong on behalf of Your people. May many turn to You in their fear and be saved.

I know I will see Your goodness in the land of the living. I remember the way you protected Israel in the desert and I remember the way You’ve kept me and my family.

You kept us from drowning in debt, from trees falling on/near our house and missing our kid’s bedrooms — twice. You’ve held us steady in a multitude of life’s storms that would otherwise have taken us down. You’ve kept our faith in tact as we walked through loss, stood graveside, surrendered things on this earth.

If I cling to the reports of men, I will drown in the sea of unknowns. But when I lift my face to the Hills and recall to mind Your Sovereign Right Hand is holding mine, I rest and trust.

I know the waters will not sweep over me, and the fire will not burn me, for You are with me — Many will see and fear and put their trust in You.

You are the Rock of Ages, You hide me so no evil will befall me, no disaster will come near my house. I will say, “Salvation comes from the Lord.” Amen.
