Light Can Hurt - But Never Flee From It When You Can Be Carried Straight Up In It!

Twenty two month old Elliot winced when I shone the dim light on his little face, eyes squinted closed, head turned to the side. He had awakened before the sun and I did not want to wake his brother, so I went in after him using the dim light of my phone.

I scooped him up quickly, and stopped in the bathroom to brush his teeth. [Who knew babies had morning breath?!] I flicked on the light and he dropped his face into my shoulder. His eyes weren’t ready for the light.

When you’re accustomed to darkness, the light hurts.

Light in the darkness can be frightening! Or it can be stunning and freeing!

In this season of light, this advent of celebrating the coming of Jesus, the One who came at Christmas . . . as I look into the light of His Word, I see the brilliant radiance of His presence in the earth, and observe the two ways that people respond to His arrival:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

He who believes [option 1] in Him is not judged; he who does not believe[option 2] has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

For everyone who does evil [option 2] hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But he who practices the truth [option 1] comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”
John 3:16-21

So the world is already and always has been under the judgement of God, but Jesus came in to take the wrath of God upon Himself for anyone who will turn from sin and put their trust in His atoning sacrifice. The Savior came to SAVE!!!

This is the good news of Christmas. Ephesians 5:8  [So believe!]

Even the darkness is not dark to God. Psalm 139:12 [Nothing is hidden from Him!]

Light overcomes darkness. Every. Single. Flicker. Revelation 3:21 [He overcame, so we can]

So, never be afraid to come into the Light and be free!

don't miss a thing
