The Spirit, It's Like The Wind

I’ve been talking much with “my people” about the Holy Spirit living IN us and ‘marveling’ that the power of God that created the moon and stars, His power that moves mountains and raises valleys, actually abides in us.

His Spirit actually works in . . . and through us . . . Wow!

Shouldn’t we feel some kind of holy fire burning in our bones?

Wouldn’t we have a greater awareness of His presence taking over our footsteps than we do?

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11

A few weeks ago, my husband was going to help our son work on his house on a Sunday morning. I was feeling desperate for soul-nourishment; I decided to go to one of the larger churches in our area. [we moved in December and are still looking at churches] So I went straight to the front and was swept up in the beautiful worship music.

After a great message, I walked out with another woman who was there alone. We chatted as we went. When we got up to the circular foyer area, she asked me if I was parked to the right, and I told her, “No, the other way.”

“I’m parked there too.” she said.

And without really knowing why, I turned my feet to the right, wondering as I went why I did that.

I wandered around the half-circle, and upon seeing a bookstore, I went in, curious.

Across the room, my eyes landed on “Calm My Anxious Heart” by Linda Dillow. I had read it years ago and was surprised it was one they stocked in this little bookstore. Glancing curiously at other titles, I worked my way over to where my eyes had glimpsed the familiar book

.

When I stopped, there was a woman paging through it. “That’s a great book,” I said. And then asked her if she was struggling with anxiety.

She confided in me that she had been, and explained the challenges in her life. Her daughter, a single mom with a little baby in a car seat, was standing beside her.

So, I offered to pray with her, ushering her and her daughter and the baby out to the coffee shop lounge.
Holding her hands, we bowed our heads and I prayed for her and her concerns.

When I left, I was moved to joy over the way the Lord moved me. It had been a ‘divine appointment.’  I had been able to encourage a sister with the comfort that the Lord had once comforted me with in my anxiety.

In connecting us through a common struggle, I sensed His deep love.

And that day the Spirit was as subtle as a gentle breeze.
