Peace Depends on Proper Perspective

After a week of cloudy, humid and generally miserable end-of summer weather, I opened the windows, and wiped off the glass table on the deck to sit outside. The sun was shining and a gentle breeze was blowing the trees surrounding the deck. One of my favorite gifts in the summer is seeing sunlight dancing on the water.

God knows it makes my heart dance, and has blessed me with this precious love-gift. I live in a home with a lake view. (Every day I marvel at the extravagant goodness of God!)

I sit down and smile as I write in my journal; “Lord, You kiss me today with this view, the sunshine and breeze! Thank you!”

It’s felt recently as if the world is rumbling and ready to blow. Headlines are depressing. There is palpable tension in conversation. And I see it in the comments underneath the posts on controversial topics: an undercurrent of anger and unrest. Fear, I think what I see is fear.

Sometimes it seeks my soul. Words seem to holler at me personally.
“You are not doing enough!”
“You are not doing it right!”
“You must do this thing!”

And I’m pretty sure it’s the devil using the internet to holler at me.

Besides the world’s unrest, every day I see women doing amazing feats fit only for Wonder Woman. {Or for those called and equipped by God-but I forget that the Spirit empowers them.}
