1. Beautiful pictures. Great thoughts. You have a very good one word.
My one word – Proverbs. I know, sounds pretty neutral. But, it serves a couple of purposes: keeping me motivated to study the book; complete a couple of writing projects; and imbibe the spirit of godly wisdom and righteousness from this wonderful work.

Hope you had a great Christmas and new year.

      That is awesome-Proverbs!!
Thanks for stopping by Warren! I know blogging connections are hard to maintain. That means a lot that you found your way over. 🙂

God bless your new year! 🙂

  2. I love how God brings certain words to mind that won’t let go. Suddenly they pop up everywhere. Praying you go deeper into His light this year, Kathy. That any darkness will be flooded with His light.

Thanks for visiting Beth! Renew! What a great word… What Jesus does all the time, right? I will pop over to your blog!

  3. LOVE this, Kathy. I didn’t know you moved, too. And, sold your store. You and I are both settling roots in a new spot, aren’t we?

LOVE your word this year. Not sure what mine is yet. I’m going to seek him and see. I’ll let you know when He lets me know.

May He bless you abundantly and delight you over and over this year.

Thank you Joann! I have enjoyed your instagram journal. 🙂 🙂

Settling roots. I so long for roots, and being in our last place for 12 years was the longest since getting married. I’ve felt a lot like Abraham wandering… but at least I have something warmer than a tent!

  4. It’s always sobering for me to look back over my previous year and see just how much my verse/word focus has influenced that season. Delight – indeed, you are in a place of boundless possibility, and I pray that God will delight your heart with all this newness, allowing long moments of goodness-grazing in those wide-open spaces!

    Wonderful thoughts, friend.

Thank you Elaine!!! I love when people say they are praying for me. I feel hugged!

Praying your new year is full of Peace!

Hi Kathy. After hearing the “One Word” Living the Promise podcast, I was inspired. I spent the last few weeks of December discerning what my 2014 word might be. I was so sure that my word for 2014 was “uncluttered”…uncluttered was one of three words (uncluttered, attentiveness, intentional) that I was sensing could be “it.” While doing my “Jesus Calling” January 1 devotion, I realized that in fact “attentiveness” is my 2014 word. As I read the devotion, my spirit sensed that actually attentiveness was the one….”Give yourself fully to this adventure of increasing attentiveness to My Presence” was the last sentence in the devotion; could the Lord have made it any more clear…:) Here we go…

    • Kathy Schwanke

It seems like they are two sides of the same coin, no? Unclutter so you can be more attentive… so you can more fully give yourself. This is perfect!

I loved Jesus calling over the last year.
I missed that podcast though. I will have to go looking for it. 🙂
      Happy New Year!!!

Yes, I think you are right…attentive and uncluttered are “two sides of the same coin”…actually all three words (also, intentional) are kind of in the same realm… I love how the word(s) are practical yet so much more in terms of mind and heart.

Happy 2014 to you as well, Kathy. I look forward to hearing of the many facets of “delight”.

  6. Beautiful post. I love your graphics. What program do you use to make them?

I think my 2014 word is ‘SIMPLIFY’. It is the word that has been pressing in upon me for a few weeks now. My 2012 word was ‘intentional’ and my 2013 was ‘Jesus’.

    Happy New Year, Kathy.

      Hi Leah,
Thanks for stopping by…Simplify… Yes, that would have been helpful for me to have ‘done that’ before moving… 🙂 But seriously, I think He is bringing His people to greater understanding of what is really important by asking us to reduce. Have you been seeing that in your life?

I use an app on my iPhone called Rhonna Designs. It is a bit time consuming depending on what you are after, but I really enjoy doing it.
Happy New Year to you too!
